Introduction 1. Central Design Office has been
working since The Establishment of Gujarat State in 1960. This
office handles work related to preparation of plan Report and
Detailed maps and Design of Multipurpose, major and medium scaled
Irrigation Schemes.
2. Head of this office is Principal Engineer (N.G.) and
Additional Secretary. Three Superintending Engineers handling the
work of this office. Their distribution of work is as under.
(a) Superintending Engineer Central Design Office : handles
work related to mapping and design of earthen dams of multipurpose,
major and medium scale schemes. He heads:- B, B-1, C, C-1, E.G. and
pert cell and monitoring unit.
(b) Superintending Engineer (Geology) : Post of
Superintending Engineer (Geology) was added to Central Design Office
in August, 1993. He handles geological work of multipurpose, major
and medium level schemes of state.
He heads Unit I
(c) Superintending Engineer (Hydrology) : Post of
Superintending Engineer (Hydrology) was created on May, 1980. He
undertakes the work of hydrological design of multipurpose, major
and medium level complete and under construction Irrigation Schemes.
Also undertakes designing of canal Network and Micro canal
Structure. He heads "A", "J", "K", "F" and pert Unit"
3. This office has been presently
divided into fifteen
units. Each unit is being headed by Executive Engineer and is
assisted by Deputy Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineer etc.
Monitoring Unit does technical work under office on special duty
while its administrative work is being done by Central Design
office.
Distribution of Design and mapping work of Major and Medium
level schemes, under above mentioned 15 units is as under :
1. Unit-A :
Information about Hydrological aspect of Irrigation Schemes of
Gujarat Region, planning of potential water power, crop system,
study of flood, sedimentation of reservoir and flow of river.
2. Unit- B :
Designing of earthen Dams of Gujarat and Kutch and analysis of
soil and foundation.
3. Unit- B1 :
Designing of Earthen Dams of Saurashtra Region and analysis of
soil and foundation.
4. Unit-C :
Study and finalization of design and model layout of masonry Dam
and its ancillary work of Gujarat and Kutch region.
5. Unit-C1 :
Study and finalization of design and model layout of masonry Dam
and its ancillary work of Saurashtra Region.
6. Unit- D :
Design and study of main regulators, outer doors and doors of
masonry Dam.
7. Unit-E :
Study of Hydra Electricity and design of electric Unit.
8. Monitoring Unit
To monitor and regulate major and medium level undergoing and new
Irrigation Schemes of state with or without assistance of World Bank
and to prepare and submit tri-monthly report of progress of work,
reasons of less progress than anticipated as per schedule and
details of expenditure etc. to the Government.
9. Unit-F :
Irrigation reviews of Schemes completed, season wise report of
irrigation schemes completed and annual report of Duty, compendium
of items related to Irrigation Scheme, Technical articles related to
various subjects, to prepare annual administrative reports of
Narmada and water resources Department.
Preparation of proposals of participation of Technical Officers
of Narmada and water resource in Training, Seminar, work shops
organized by various organizations, preparation work of celebration
of water resources Day. Inspection of water account of major and
medium level Irrigation Schemes of state which are complete.
10. Unit-G :
Canal and structures on canal and outdoor of earthen
Dams.
11. Unit-H :
Information about Hydrological aspect of Irrigation schemes of
Saurashtra and Kutch region, crop system, study of flood,
sedimentation of reservoir and flow of river.
12. Unit-I :
Hydrological works of Multipurpose major and medium level
Irrigation schemes.
13. Unit-J
(a) Preparation of basin master plan of all the rivers of
entire Gujarat State.
(b) Pert sell : Preparation of pitcher of work progress of
new major and medium irrigation schemes.
14. Unit- K :
Hydrological review of existent schemes and which work is under
progress, to define rule level of water resources schemes with doors
during monsoon.
15. Pert Unit :
Work of design of structures on canal and design and planning of
minor system for Irrigation Schemes without World Bank assistance
and under area development of entire Gujarat State. Central Design
office gives advise on complicated questions of planning and
construction of water resources Irrigation Schemes and also
undertakes defining standards of design, preparation of minute
details of major matters of contraction and publication of booklets
showing standard designs. |
