Gujarat Engineering Research Institute (GERI) Vadodara
established in 1960 is a premier R & D institute of Government of
Gujarat engaged in investigations, testing and R & D activities in
almost all the fields of Civil Engineering. The GERI laboratories
have been accredited with ISO: 9001-2000 certification for testing
of civil engineering materials.
The institute aims at providing research and development inputs
to the activities of Gujarat state in the fields of water resources
and Road and Buildings. The activities of the Institute are centered
on investigation and testing, Research and development, consultancy
and training in various areas. The institute extends its activities
to both Government and Public / Private sector bodies as well as it
provide services like:
- Monitoring of Seismological activities
- Engineering Geological investigations
- Rockmass testing /Grout mix design
- Standard soil surveys
- Foundation investigations
- Material testing and water quality analysis
- Hydraulic research studies
- Dam safety inspections
- Reservoir Sedimentation surveys
- Applications of Remote sensing
- Rejuvenation of Tubewells
- Road Research and Traffic studies
The institute with head office at Vadodara has 18 divisions.
Besides main laboratory at Vadodara, it has three regional divisions
at Surat, Rajkot and Gandhinagar with 14 District Laboratories
covering entire Gujarat. Six new sectional laboratories at Dahod,
Anand, Porbandar, Patan, Navasari and Rajpipla newly formed district
headquarters will start functioning shortly.
GERI is headed by Chief Engineer & Director who is assisted by
four officers of the rank Superintending Engineer.
