IWRD CELLIntegrated Water Resources Development Cell (IWRD Cell) has been created vide
N.W.R. & W.S. Deptt. Government Resolution No.ERI-2000/784-27-K,
dtd.11.10.2002.
Narmada Water Resources and Water Supply Department has adopted
Computerization in the field of collection of data, design, hydrology project,
Budgetary allocation, engineering, research etc. Data collection and analysis
are of very high values, but lying in a scattered form. For useful and effective
analysis and application of such details, an integrated approach is must.
Dissemination of such integrated data and information will help the department
is many ways.
There are 185 Medium and Major river basin spreads all over Gujarat State.
The Surface Water availability is estimated to be 38533 Mm3 of
which substantial volume of water is runs in to the sea similarly, useful ground
water availability is estimated as 11,179 Mm3. With those
availability of surface and ground water, ultimate irrigation potential planned
is 64.88 lacs ha. Out of 185 Basins. 4 basins have surplus water. Due to
continuous rise in water demand for irrigation, industrial and other purpose,
judicious planning of water resources has become inevitable. As water becomes
scare commodity a conservative use against rising demand is a must.
AREA OF STUDY
The IWRD Cell shall cover the following aspects as area of study.
- Availability of Surface as well as Ground water along with quality
experts.
- Study the performance of all Major, Medium and Minor schemes.
- Allocation of water to the end user as per priority sector wise (Domestic,
Agricultural, Industrial etc.).
- Optimum utilization of stored water in dams be ensured.
- Study of evaporization of all Major reservoirs to be made on real time
data (Observations).
- Study of quantity of water that cannot be utilized and flows into the sea
from all rivers.
- Moreover, the scope of study will be calculated to
- Study made by Tahal Consultants
- Study made by Central Design
Organisation
- Study made by MIP (CDO)
- Working of Flood Cell and its data to
be incorporated for research purpose.
- Studies and Research work, made by
GWRDC Gandhinagar
- Data base development under Hydrology
Project (UNDER NHP)
