MECHANICAL WORKS AND MECHANICAL SERVICES

            Due to according priority to the development rate of the Irrigation scheme in the state, it has become necessary to ensure that the progress in the construction works of the schemes take place simultaneously. To accelerate the earth work of Irrigation scheme and other essential services and to use departmental machinery, recently two mechanical circles are operational in the state, viz : (1) Irrigation Mechanical Circle No.1, Vadodara (2) Irrigation Mechanical Circle No.2, Ahmedabad,

(1) The works of the Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Mechanical Circle No.1,Vadodara are as under :- Machinery costing Rs.1806 lacs, mainly include Scrapers, Dumpers, Cranes,Excavators,Draglines,Tippers,Water Tankers,Heavy Trailors and other miscellaneous machinery such as dewatering pumps,Drilling machines etc. is available under this circle.

The works being done by three division under control of this circle are as under :-

1. Maintenance works of canals such as Panam, Sukhi, Dev, Karjan, Jhuj, Kelia, Ukai, Damanganga, Kadana etc., falling in the Central & South Gujarat and structure changing & strengthening works of canals are done by the machinery of this circle.
2. Works such as desilting, deepening of Mahi & Ukai Kakarapar command area are done by the machinery of this Circle.
3. Immediate relief works are taken up on was footing basis by setting up flood fighting units at Gotri (Vadodara ),Nadiad pump section and Ukai dam during monsoon.
4. Works such as operation of 27 radial gates of Kadana project, dewatering work of inspection gallery of Kadana dam, supply of electricity to Kadana project and its maintenance are done.
5. New electrification works & maintenance are done on various schemes such as Kadana, Ukai, Damanganga project & other projects situated in Central and South Gujarat.and canal’s Gates repairing works are also carried out on such projects.
6. Inspection and fixation upset price of unserviceable Government vehicles of Vadodara, Bharuch, Panchmahal, Dahod, Navsari, Narmada (Rajpipla), Valsad, Surat, Dang Districts are done by this circle office.
7. Operation maintenance & Repair work of heavy machinery/vehicles.
8. Irrigation Machanical Store Division No.1, Vadodara supplies spare parts for the department’s machinery at the site of various schemes and supplies general Mechanical and Electrical goods & Oil/Diesel and maintain the accounts of the same.
9. Planning of excavation channel in purna river (Navsari) is on hand.

The following works are under progress by departmental machinery & staff for the year 2006-07 by this circle office.

1. Dewatering works, approach road making & Canal excavation work of Sujalam Suflam recharge canal (0 to 120 KM ) is under progress.
2. Goma Project work is under progress.
3. Jungle cutting work of Kosamba Branch Canal.
4. Repairing work of Hajira Branch Canal (Surat) Repairing work of Banks of Kaveri-Khakhara River (Vagrech.) Repairing work of Kakarapar Aflux Bund,Repairing work of Ukai Left Bank Canal (Mahuva) are under progress damaged due to heavy flood & heavy rain during the year 2006.
5. Immediate relief works such as dewatering removing of mud from roads, distribution of Food Packets, dumping of dead animals etc. from Surat City was carried out on war foot basis, due to heavy flood in river Tapi & repairing works of Banks of river Tapi was carried out damaged due to heavy flood.
