(2) Function of Mechanical Irrigation Circle-2 Ahmedabad is as under :-

             The works being done by six divisions under control of this circle are as under:-

            This circle for the departmental implementation of Irrigation scheme executes the earthwork by heavy machinery.Besides it does (1) Planning and purchase of diesel-oil,spare parts and mechanical-electrical goods. (2) Maintenance of heavy machinery and (3) Fabrication, erection, repairing and electrification of gates of various irrigation scheme. The earth work of earth dams of Irrigation scheme is handled by this circle. Besides, water disposal and flood relief works are also done on war footing basis.

Beside these works, this circle also bears the responsibllity of purchasing,examining and distributing steel, cement, polythelene films, etc. in a large quantity.To cope with the responsibility of vehicles, vehicle inspection pool has been set up, which looks after the maintenance of vehicles and allocate vehicle on demand by the officials. This circle has completed the earth works of major and medium irrigation schemes such as Dantiwada, Dantiwada T.C., Indrasi, Meshvo,Hathmati,Ukai, Watrak Mahi command area,Kakrapar, Kadana Machchhu-2, Fodarnes, Kalindri, Tappar, Dharoi,Sani, Vegli, Mukteshwar, Amipur, Damanganga Limbali, Falku Vadia, Dhrafad, Morsal, Shedhabhadthari Sukhi, Maghal, Medhacreek, Sheldedumal, Sipu, Und.II, Ozat.II, Khedva, Lank, Thebi, Mitti, Mohar siphon, Vadnagar branch canal, Devpura Tank, Lodra Tank, Piyaj Tank, Sharmishtha Tank, Limdi Bhogavo, Nardipur Tank, Rampura Tank, Waghvadi Tank, Manipr Tank, Khorsam Tank, Asarva Tank, Malkesabn Talav, Jalundra Talav, Gungali Talv Santsarover Channel, Sujlam Suflam Canal at Dhamanva, Lakhani Vasan, Lakroda, Kamlivad, Melosan, kadana R.B.M.C. and earthwork & Jungle cutting work of Muktidham Ghat at Narmada Sarsvati Mahasangam & Sarsvati Jungle cutting and T.C. excavation in Sarsvati river crossing Namrada Main Canal and earthquake affected Rudramata,Tappar, Shivlakha, Kayla, Mevasa, Jadsa, Bharudia, Sanva, Vamka, Adhoi, Limbadia scheme in kutch District and gorge portion work of earth dam such as Chang.Suvi and Kansvati scheme, repairing of Ranjit sagar dam in Jamnagar district and deepening and widening work of rivers and canals of Ghed area of Saurashtra such as Amipur, Sukh Bhadar,Erda,Lusada, Kerala Kanswad (Turbo), Kadachh (Ozat), Kalindri, Bobdi, Bapapar, Khodiyar, Sorathi Reversed canal Sisli, Redial canal (Kesav) and various Tanks like Buri, Sardargadh, Sheldi Nandarkha, Kothariya, Lusala, Kothadi, Indra, Bhalgam, Degad, Koyali, Limbuda, Indira, Mitadi, Bhitana, Jinjari, Khakhri, Manavadar site, etc and drainage works like viramgam drain,Ogan drain, Ogan-Dhulata Drain, Chor-Vadodara drain, Hirapara Drain, Vasan Bund, Dhuleta Bund, Ghoda-feeder drain Extension of Goda feeder drain, Panar Dediyasan Drain,Chandranagar Drain, Gota-Godhavi drain etc and Repairing works of 22 check dams of GWRDC damaged during flood and Gandhar oil area approach road on departmental basis.Besides, drilling, grounding & guniting work of Various projects such as Ver.II, Jhuj, Harnav.II, Sukhi, Panam, Bhadar, Deo, Dharoi, Dantiwada, Damanganga Sipu, Guhai, Meshvo, Bhilwada Lakhigam,Hathmati, Pipalwada, Mahi, Khedva, Ukai dam, Panam dam and Ozat.II scheme have been completed in time by this circle. Fabrication, erection and electrification of gates of various irrigation scheme in the state is done by this circle such as Bhadar, Saraswati, Vasna barrage, Moj, Chhaparwadi, Raval, Shingoda, Sukhbhadar, Rajawal, Khere, Ver.II, Lakhanka Hamiyapura, Malpara, Rangmati, Nyari.II, Dantiwada, Kalubhar, Ghed Bhadar Regulator, Kankavati, Vrajmi, Khambhada, Sani, Raidy, Machchhu-II, Meghal tidal Regulator, Vadi, Motisar, Falku, Limbali, Sipu, Check dams, Dhrafad, Thebi Khodapipar, Nimbhani, Und.II, Bantwakharo, Fulzar, Vadod, Vartu.II, Kaniyad, Sheldedumal, Hanol, Utavali Gunda, Vadia, Devdha.T.R.Survo, Dondi, Ozat pick wier Demi-III,Ozat.II. During the last year 2005-2006 fabrication and erection of gates for canal and H.R.for different irrigation project costing to Rs.6.23 lacs and weighing about 15.519 MT was carried out. Repairing of spillway gates & H.R. and C.R.Gates of different projects were done costing to Rs.31.69 lakh weighing to 2.539 MT.The electrification and street light works of various scheme like Demi-II and Dhattarwadi-II of Rs.11.54 lakh have been done. The repairing works of gtates of Vasna Barrage is in progress. Pre monsoon inspection of spillway gates of 24 projects and post monsoon inspection of spillway gates of 9 projects were carried out.

(3) FLOOD CONTROL WORKS :-

            During current year 2006-2007, following works are in progress by the heavy machinery under this office and departmental staff.

2.      Fabrication and erection works of 4 gates of Pingali Project,12 gates of Ozat wier (Vanthali) and 18 gates of Brahmani-II projects are in progress.Repairing of gates of various schemes are to be done. Pre-monsoon of spillway gates of 27 project are completed.

3.      One neclues drilling-grouting unit is operational for the redressal of leakage problem of dam in the entire state.Drilling and grouting work in the bed of C.O.T. of Goma earthen dam, spillway of Bed Bandhara Scheme and Redrilling work of chocked up drainage holes in the gallery of Ukai dam is in progress.

4.   To inspect unserviceable machinery and vehicles of Narmada Water Resources, Water Supply & Kalpsar Deaprtment and other Department of Saurashtra & Kutch region and to fix the floor price. Beside the work of disposal of vehicle and machinery of Narmada Water Resources, Water Supply & Kalpsar Department, machinery and vehicles of other department by auction has also been entrusted to this office.

5.    Electrification works are under taken on various irrigation scheme.

6.   The clearance of mud and garbage accumulated during heavy flood of 2006 in Surat city to the tune of 15,000 MT and repairing of embankment of Tapi River to the tune of 67000 an earthwork is done on war footing basis.

7.   Irrigation Mechanical Circle No.2, Ahmedabad is having machinery of approximately Rs.3415 lacs which includes-scraper, dozer, excavator, Shovels, loader, grader, tipper, dumpers, rollers, trailors, water tanker, and other miscellaneous machinery viz : pumping set. generator, trucks, jack hammer air compressor, tampers etc.
