FARM POND SCHEME
On the one hand, by making farm ponds,
the poor and farm laborers will get employment in rural areas even
during off season in farming, one lakh small farmers will get the
benefit on the other hand. Due to farm ponds, huge quantity of water
will be stored. It has been decided to make one lakh farm ponds by
the next June.

Yojana

Level of underground water instead of going low,
will get recharged and dry land and dry underground will revive.

2791 villages will get rid of water polluted by Floride, 456 villages by Nitrate and salinity will be checked in
792 villages.

Rs. 500 crore be saved by linking potable water
schemes with this scheme.

Farmers of this area will get relief in
electricity bills and 2694 MW electricity will be saved from being
consumed tube wells.

Rs. 1091 crore will be saved from the subsidy
given in the electricity used for agriculture.

Due to the closure of drawing water from the
underground near tube well, recurring expenditure of Rs. 1000 crore
to make tube wells would be saved.

Agro industries will get encouraged.

1.5 lakh labourers will get employment even in off
agriculture season-spare time by working for farm ponds.

Agriculture produce will increase to the tune of
Rs. 2369 crore.

51 thousand check dams have been completed by
people’s participation and more than one lakh check dams will be
constructed within two years.

50,000 bori bonds will be constructed.
-
By this scheme, ground water irrigation facility
will be available in total 4.5 lakh hectare land and 4038 villages
will avail the benefit of potable water.
