WALMI
History
Walmi is a State Training Institute to Impart multi-disciplinary
training in the field of irrigated agriculture. Established in
1980-81 at Anand, in Kheda district with financial support of World
Bank. During 1983-84, it became a participant of USAID assisted
"Water Resources Management & Training Programmes" Since 1985 WALMI
has been working as an autonomous body under "Gujarat Irrigation
Management Society"-(GIMS)
Infrastructural Set-up of Walmi-Anand
In May-1990 after the completion of new campus, the training
activities commenced in the campus having land area of over 56
hectare with following infrastructure's:- Administrative building
block (includes Meeting room, Conference room, etc)
Faculty building block (including Class rooms, library, auditorium,
computer Center, etc)
Boarding Facilities:
Trainees Hostel - To accommodate
102 trainees
Farmers Hostel - To accommodate 56 farmers
Guest House (with Well
furnished 5 suits)
Residential colony with 14 units of different types for staff
member's
Demonstration farm of 36 hectare
Regional Training Network of WALMI
There are Three Regional Training Centers of WALMI apart from
the main campus at Anand.
They are located at:-
Gandhinagar (Middle & North of Gujarat)
Rajkot (Saurastra & Kutch region)
Surat (Southern part of Gujarat)
All the regional centers are fully developed with required
infrastructures for imparting training to lower level functionaries
and farmers.
